Not Settling

It breaks my heart every morning having to leave Nora. I don’t send her to the nursery, Jules does that, and I pick her up after work… but she still cries for me when I leave her with Jules and my heart aches every time I hear her cry.

She’s not settling in the nursery either and today will be her her twelfth day. She still screams and the only way they could feed her is to give her spoonful of food between screams… and that shouldn’t be the case really.

Jules says that the nursery has to figure out how to handle Nora. Yes, I agree and I’m sure that they tried everything that they possibly could… but it can’t be good for Nora to be stressed all the time. Maybe nursery is not for her and we have to look at alternative.

I was talking to one of the staff and she doesn’t even think that childminding would work for Nora as Nora seems to want one to one interaction… which they can’t really give as there are other babies around and with childminders, there will be other children around. Tasha thinks that what might work is a nanny. They had cases like this before where the baby did not settle in immediately and the child is then goes to an alternative care for a few months and then goes back to the nursery and they are fine.

The nursery’s manager will try to call me on Monday and have a chat. She might not suggest what was mentioned above, and if she does, she also will realise that we can’t magically find an alternative care immediately. In the mean time I think we would have to think of an alternative, just in case… it might be inconvenient for us, but we have to think about what is best for her.
