Angry Baby

Nora is not very happy at the moment. I can’t blame her. After months of undivided attention, she now has to go to nursery and mingle with other babies and share the nursery careworker’s attention.

And… when my mom was here, she had so (too) much body contact. Whenever she cried, moaned and complained, my mom will pick her up to soothe her. Don’t get me wrong, mom was a great help… but I guess there is such a thing as too much help… and being a grandmother… like any other grandmothers, she couldn’t hear Nora cry… not even for five minutes, let alone a second.

So now, Nora screams. She screams from 8am, when Jules sends her to nursery, until 4pm when I pick her up from nursery. Our walk home is pleasant as she’s quiet and munching her rice cakes… but now, she has brought her screaming home.

She is no longer happy at playing alone. She wants me constantly. And I have to show her that she can’t have what she wants all the time. I let her scream in her playpen in the front room and get on with my home chores.

It will be hard work to get her to how she was.

I’m sorry Nora… but Mama is doing this because Mama loves you too much.

But one good news…. her hunger strike might be over.
