You Can Use My Phone

As we were walking home from Nursery today, I told Nora that I left my mobile phone at work.

She looked at me and said “Silly mama.”

I told her that I know and that I should really have put my mobile phone in my bag to which she said…

“Don’t worry mama. You can use my Peppa Pig phone.”

Body Clock

Jules is definitely back on GMT. Nora is getting there as she did fall back to sleep after she got up looking for me in the kitchen. My body still thinks that 3:30am is a good time to be awake. Probably because my mind is still thinking of Malaysia.

Speaking of Malaysia, here is Jules enjoying pau rendang. We had a short stop at the motorway on our way to KL to get some caffeine into our system and I wanted some snack. Jules was almost jumping up and down when he saw pau rendang as it is almost rendang pie in his eyes.

Jules with rendang pau

Nora had pau kaya (coconut jam) and I must have had the traditional red bean pau… I can’t remember but that was on my list of things to eat :)

Oh… pau is steamed bun… just in case you’re wondering what it is :)

Pregnant Emperor

We’re back from Malaysia. It was lovely and I will try to update on that later.

While we were there, I read some of my old ladybird books to Nora. She loved them so I decided to take some back here with us.

One of the books was the Magic Paintbrush. A tale from China of Liang, a poor boy, who was given a paintbrush and everything he painted comes to live or becomes real.

I was reading it to Nora last night when we got to the page where the Emperor had summoned Liang. Nora pointed to the Emperor’s big belly and asked me if he has a baby in his belly. That brought a giggle to me and I told her no.

When Liang escaped from the Emperor and decided to be a normal painter, he made sure that he doesn’t finish any of his painting as then it would come to life. But on another page, as Liang was carefully painting a bird a man bumped into him.

Again Nora pointed out that the man has a big belly and asked if he has a baby. And I told her no only girls can have babies. She then said that the man looked like he has breasts (pointint to her chest and mine). I burst into laughter. I told her no, it is because he is big. I thought I should drop saying that the man and Emperor were fat incase she’ll point to random people on the street and say that they are fat!

One More Sleep!!

OMG!!! This time tomorrow, I’ll be frantically cleaning the house and packing in preparation for our balik kampung (return to the village) trip!

But in between, Nora and I will be meeting up with Nate and Maya for a bit of playtime at Morden Hall Park, and then we have to return our library books (as I have a fine to pay!).

I’m so unbelievably excited about this trip and I think Nora is mirroring my excitement! With both of us so excited, it’s a wonder we haven’t exploded!

BIG

Nora has been full of compliments lately.

The other night as she was falling asleep, she held my face in her hands, looked at me in the eye and said ‘Mama, you’re fat like daddy’.

???!!!!

And then yesterday, she kept waking up so I decided to have an early night. I was changing into my pyjamas when she said ‘You’ve got a big bum!’

???!!!

She sure knows how to make me feel good. *sigh*

Eight More Sleeps

I’m really getting excited about our trip! So, is Nora! We keep telling each other that soon we will be on the plane for our holiday!

Yesterday I booked Jules and my mini holiday to Jakarta. Waiting for the response from Take’s Mansions for our room.

I’ve asked mom for murtabak (meaty pancake dish) for dinner when I get home :)

This weekend, I’m going to start getting things together… not that I have much to pack as Nora and I will do massive shopping when we’re there!

Proud Mother Syndrome VI

first face

OK. She’s not yet a Rembrandt but this is the first ever proper face she drew in front of me when I asked her to draw something in Krish’s card to congratulate him for the birth of his son.

There will be a PMS VII post after this as I just remembered a dinosaur drawing she did in April in Nursery :)

The Big Four O

It was my 40th birthday yesterday. It was raining and cold AND I have a cold… and Nora had a temperature.

But it was lovely to spend it with Jules and Nora… and having Lin and Ben Toots with me was a bonus.

I do count my blessings.

Never Again

Yesterday, we were having dinner and Nora slammed her mug down on the table. Both Jules and I told her off for doing that and showed her the dent she made on the table. I told her that if she broke her mugs, I won’t be getting her any new ones.

She looked up at both of us and said

“Sorry mama. Sorry Daddy. I never do it again.”

I was going to continue scolding her and send her to the naughty step to think about what she did when Jules went “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww” with open arms and gave her a hug!

Yes, I am impressed with her ability to make sentences… but I wanted her to know that she can’t get away with just saying sorry all the time as she has to mean it.

But I guess I could let her off just this once.

She then said she was finished with dinner and I told her to go and brush her teeth with daddy.

She went to the bathroom and slammed the door before Jules could go in… and she I told Jules that she said she’d never do that (slam the bathroom door) again too.

Words…
