Egg Shopping

Nora was sitting by the window this morning. After a few minutes staring outside, she turned to me and said ‘shop’. I asked her what do we need to get from the shop. With no hesitation she said ‘egg’.

Hmmmm… wonder if she’s developing a love for egg just like me.

There was another incident when she wanted to go to the shop… and I told her we’re not going out. She kept asking if we ‘go shop?’ and I kept saying ‘no’ to her. She then changed her tactics and language…

‘Kedai?’ she asked.

I told her that she say it in any language, the answer is still ‘No’.

Nappy Crisis

The title of this post sounds like a big disaster happened. Don’t worry, it was not a major issue.

Last night after Nora had her bath, I took her to her room to get her dressed only to discover… WE’VE RUN OUT OF NAPPIES! I didn’t realize it because it’s usually Jules who does her bath routine. And I’m sure Jules didn’t realize it because he thinks that I am so efficient that I will have another pack some where.

But there wasn’t another pack!!

Fortunately, we found a couple of nappies in her potty bag. Phew!

The thing is… I wasn’t that worried. She has been really good with using the potty (another reason why I’ve been really complacent with her nappy amount). So good that majority of the mornings, her nappy has stayed dry!

So, even if we didn’t have any nappy last night, she could have just gone to bed without it.

No major disaster.

Little Miss Helpfull

This morning, I gave Nora her milk bottle, switched on 64 Zoo Lane and started to get ready for work.

Five minutes later, I heard Nora calling for me as she walked pass the bathroom door. I cried back to her letting her know where I was.

She told me ‘Susu habis (I’ve finished my milk)’ and when I opened the bathroom door, there she was, standing with an empty milk bottle in one hand and my cup from last night (which I should have brought to the kitchen) in the other.

As I still need to put my trousers on, I told her to take them to the kitchen and put it on the table… and off she went.

She is so sweet sometimes… most of the time.

Not only that, when I was putting the laundry out to dry, she came over. I told her to go and sit on the chair and she cried and protested as she wanted to help! So, I passed some laundry for her to hang up. Made her happy.

And made me happy as she’s showing determination to help me around the house… but she still throws all her soft toys on to the floor though. Can’t win them all.

Bad Cop

Nora was sat at her naughty area for quite a few times today. I’m trying to get her to listen to me. Yes, I let her get away with little things, but she needs to hear me when I tell her things; she needs to know that there are rules that she needs to follow… no matter how irrelevant she feels it is.

When I tell her to pick up her toys and she started to throw the toys that I’ve put to the side, I told her to sit still and not to do it. She giggled probably thinking it was a game. So I took her to the naughty corner and told her to sit and think. When she tried to get up, I sat her back down. She knew then that I meant business.

But I have to do this, sit her at her naughty area. I’m hoping that it will give her time to reflect… and the same goes to me too. Rather than me screaming at her and making both of us upset, this way, both of us reflect for a minute and at the end of it, we give each other big hugs.

I’m also doing this for her own safety. Nora really thinks she’s invincible. She loves doing a bit of gymnastics and also stand on the chair in the kitchen. Every time I tell her to sit down, she ignores me. She can’t see that she might hurt herself. The thing is, sometimes I just let her be… like she was banging the door at my late grandma’s house. My mom was worried that her fingers will get caught. I told her that if I stop her now, she’ll just keep doing it… so, I let her be until she came crying and I told her that it happens if she keeps banging the door. She stopped doing it.

But falling off a chair is something I rather not happen to her. So when she kept ignoring me, I put her at her naughty corner. She might not understand why, but I’m hoping that she’ll learn that she’s not allowed to stand on the chair.

Yes, I scream at her constantly and I’m the one who put her at the naughty corner… but it always ends with hugs… and she knows that I love her deeply.

Strawberry Cheat

We went to B&Q over the weekend and I couldn’t help but get this for Nora.

The strawberry plant is now sitting on the dining table in the kitchen so when the berries ripens, Nora could just pick them off… plus, I really don’t want the birds or squirrels or insects eat the berries as I do not have any nettings to protect it.

Next year maybe a different matter.

Proud Mother Syndrome IV – Keeping Dry

We went to Lydia’s second birthday party last Friday and as per usual, I brought Nora’s traveling potty with us. Some of the mothers were saying isn’t it a bit early for her to be potty trained and I told them that Nora’s doing really well at it… but I didn’t say that in my opinion I left it quite late to potty train… I would have loved to have done it earlier.

She was wearing her nappy, as I always put her nappy on when we go to people’s places in case of accidents, but lately she has been really good!

When we were driving to St Austell, her nappy was dry the whole way through the journey! She was car sick once, but her nappy was dry throughout. When we stopped at a service station for a spot of lunch, Jules suggested that I should change her nappy before we continue… but when I got to the baby changing room, I discovered that her nappy was dry and she weeweed straight away when I put her on the toilet… not even her potty (as it was in the car)!

We continued our journey and about five miles to Exeter service station, Nora told us she wanted a poopoo. I told her it’s fine we’ll get to the service station soon. As we approached the exit junction, I asked her again if she needed to poopoo and she answered firmly ‘Yes!’

So once we stopped I grabbed her wipes and a clean nappy and took her to the baby changing room. There was a kiddie toilet there and she pointed to it. I checked her nappy and it was clean, so I took it off, put her on the kiddie toilet, and she did her business! After I cleaned her up, she said ‘Wash hands’, how good is that?

Yesterday, for the first time, I took her to Nursery and she had no nappy on. When we got to the Nursery, I reminded her that she has no nappy on so if she needs to weewee or poopoo I asked her what should she do. She pointed to the changing room. As long as she acknowledges where she needs to go, I am happy. I still left some nappies at the Nursery though, for afternoon nap time.

This morning, after Nora had her morning milk, I told her it’s time to get ready for Nursery. I took off her nappy and it was dry! Off we went to her potty… and she weeweed!!

My little girl is growing up. :)

Stunted Carrots

Oh dear… What happened to the carrots? Did I pull them too early or am I cursed to having dwarfed carrots? Oh well… they’ll go into Nora’s rice porridge tomorrow with some cauliflower for some nice homegrown home cooked food.

Courgette

This will be the next ‘produce’ coming out from our garden. I hope my courgette plant will be OK as we will be away for a few days and the weather will be hot and I won’t be around to water my plants :(
