After all the carving, I made pumpkin pie this morning for Nora to take to Nursery. They’re having a Halloween Party today. The pie is a bit wet and broken but I’m sure the kids don’t mind or care

Today we went to Tooting Bec Common with Nathaniel and his Mommy and Daddy. We also met up with Ivy, Lydia, Alessandra and Ivar there. We even bumped into Scarlett. But Nora mostly played with Nathaniel and his Daddy… We missed Maya though. We left around 4:30pm as it was getting a bit dark.

Nora gave me a fright as I was getting things ready for her swimming lesson! We woke up from the afternoon nap and I told her I’m going to the kitchen to pack her tea. She came in two minutes later, blood dripping from her nose!
I kept asking her if she fell and she said no. She said her nose doesn’t hurt… so I guess it was just a nose bleed. But she told me it’s red paint… the blood on a box.
She was sleeping in my room and there were big spot of blood all over the duvet cover!
I wasn’t even sure if we’d be able to have a swimming lesson if her nose starts bleeding again… but it was fine.
So it was swimming lesson, carrot cake at Cafe Nero, a wander around Primark… and her insisting we go to the perpustakaan (library) even though we went there this morning!
But we did have a pleasant detour… we stopped over at Maya’s. I didn’t expect her to be in as usually she’s at the childminder’s on Fridays and I wanted to talk to Lina (Maya’s mom) about Sunday… but she was home and Nora had a bit of playtime with her… which was nice
I’m hoping for a more relaxing day tomorrow…

Nora likes to tell people who Jules and I are… randomly… to strangers.
I’ll be walking to Sainsbury’s with her and she’ll say ‘Hello’ to some random guy who greets her back and she will then tell him ‘She’s my mommy’.
She’s scootering down the road and a little girl passes by with her bicycle and Nora will tell the little girl to be careful and when the little girl’s dad smiles at her, she will say ‘She’s my mommy. My daddy is at home’. The little girl’s dad will then say ‘It’s good to know’.
But that is interaction with other people. What happens when she’s interacting with a phone application?
I have Talking Giraffe on my phone who repeats what has been said to it. Yesterday, I put it on while trying to clean the front room and Nora started to talk to the Giraffe. Soon she was saying ‘My mommy’ and of course, the Giraffe then repeated what she said.
The conversation went like this
Nora: ‘My mommy’
Giraffe: ‘My mommy’
Nora: ‘No! My mommy!’
Giraffe: ‘No! My mommy!’
Nora: ‘My mommy, not your mommy!’
Giraffe: ‘My mommy, not your mommy!’
You get the picture.
This went one for at least five minutes. I was trying not to laugh and just continued on with the cleaning.

Jules sent me a text this morning letting me know that he left Nora in the kitchen for a few minutes with a biscuit while he had to use the loo. When he came back apparently Nora has peeled a banana and her cheeks puffed up from stuffing it into her mouth.
I text him back saying that’s why I always close (should have also added securely) the kitchen door before I leave for work in the morning.
I think she’s been spending too much time with Cookie Monster.

Nora seems to be much better on her scooter today. Now she has nearly got right to the end of our street.

We planned to got to Brighton today… and at the beginning of October I don’t think it would have been much of a problem.
However, the problem is, we are experiencing a mini heatwave before winter descends upon us. With the terrible summer we had, everyone is making the most of it. So when we headed out at 11am… I knew it would be a nightmare… but we had to try as Jules really wanted to go to the VW Campervan show down there.
But after being stuck in traffic, we made a u-turn… and still had a lovely time.
We stopped at a huge park/common near Wallington and had a little picnic for Nora… as she was the only one who had her lunch prepared!
But it was just nice that she could run around… but she was a bit too small to join the other kids in the stream.
Next summer, we’ll have somewhere else to go to
