Feeling the Sweat

We have nine days to go… why do I feel like we only have nine seconds left??!!

Is it because I just realised that we haven’t returned the vows to the registry office? Am I stressing as I keep thinking that the rings won’t arrive on time? Could I really do without flowers? I should really do something about my hair as everything else seems to be a mess. How will the guests make their way to the reception venue?

HELP!

Another List

Alice reminded me of another list… called the ‘Wedding List’.

Do we have one?

Rik also asked Jules about it a couple of days ago… and I looked around the house… the heap of stuff we have with no where to store and we really do not need anything else to add to the massive clutter we have!!

So no… we don’t have a Wedding List.

But… I told Jules. In Malay weddings, the parents will spend a fortune for the weddings and guests don’t usually give gifts. What they do is contribute some money to the parents for the wedding preparation. The parents usually then give the money to the couple… to help them start they life together.

So… if you do want to give us something… probably the best thing is a Debenham’s gift voucher/card… this will contribute to our future… as some of you might know some news already ;)

What List?

Slowly the list is getting shorter!!

Jules decided to have a photographer for the wedding. He told me everything has been sorted out with Iban Monkey! Cool name… so I have no objection especially since he is half Iban (a tribe in Sarawak).

Jules has also organised our wedding car… when I say a car… it’s a lie. It’s not a car… it’s a… well… you’ll just have to wait and see

I’m really looking forward to the wedding photos now!

And I’ve… at long last… ordered the rings. Now we just have to sit here and hope that the rings will arrive on time for the wedding!!!

And… I will sit here and hope that I’ll be able to fit in my wedding dress!!!

17 days to go!

Suits You Sir

We’ve gone back to relax mode for a while.

We have less than three weeks now… so I guess we should really shift another gear up and get a move on!

So we head towards Clapham Junction to Moss Bros. Well… the groom has to look good too!

Jules has chosen his suit and at the moment, I have to say he’s going to look better than me! BAH!!

But as he said… he’s just going to get married only once so he wants to look good for it and yes, we will :)

Cake Anyone?

I really cannot wait to pick up the little cakes on Thursday 16 April!!

I went to Konditor and Cook and insisted on the magic cakes. I had seen them on the website and have decided ages ago (probably about 2 weeks ago) that I’d rather have them than a traditional wedding cake.

Ben (the manager) and I sat there discussing about the designs… there’s going to be a bride, a groom, VW campervans, ukuleles and our names here and there. There will be splashes of ivory, pink, black and blue…

Most importantly… they are going to be cute!

Oh! And the very most important fact… another thing off the list! :)

What’s on the Menu?

Being the good hostess that I am, I asked my friends what they don’t eat (easier than asking what they do eat)… OK I have to admit that I didn’t ask the boys but boys eat anything and everything.

Out of the girls, only MC replied with her list of thing. What can I say? She’s a fussy, posh, very particular about everything bird… but we love her anyway.

Jules suggested sate ayam for starters. I thought cool… but MC doesn’t eat chicken.

Jules really wanted Beef Wellington (without mushroom) for main course. Good English food… but MC specified that she does not do non-Italian sauces. Jules is happy to have her portion of the gravy.

Jules aslo wants spuds with his Beef Wellington. I was like… uh-oh… MC doesn’t do boiled potatoes… but it’s OK as Jules was thinking of roast spuds.

So, after all that, when we got to the reception venue, the manager came up with a cunning plan… rather than have a proper sit down meal, we’ve now opted for a buffet style meal!

Sorted!

Everybody can have a bit of everything and don’t have to eat anything they don’t like!

That’s the wedding reception done :)

Wedding Invite

Wedding invites will be sent out soon. It will be a very small wedding… very, very small!

We really hope that those who we sent the invites to will be able to make it. We know it’s not very much notice and Friday 17 April is approaching fast… but we do hope that you could join us to witness our vows.

Please RSVP here by leaving a comment. And hopefully we’ll see you at the wedding venue on Friday 17 April!

Toast Our Marriage

We’re going to speak with the manager of the reception venue this Wednesday. Everything is slowly gathering pace!

I couldn’t sleep past 3:30am so I finished up creating the invites… as they need to be sent out soon for the wedding is on Friday 17 April.

We are going all cyber with our RSVP. If you would like to join us to toast our marriage, please leave a comment here to give us a bit of an idea of how many of you will be there… just to make sure that there will be enough drinks and cake ;) .

I really hope to see most of you there… and for those who are far away… we know you’ll there in spirit.

The Story So Far

I could say that after a long and careful planning we are all set now. But of course it’s nothing like that at all!

Little did we know that there’s more to a wedding then setting a date for the wedding, organising stag/hen do and booking annual leave for our honeymoon.

We didn’t realise that we needed to have a plan before going to the Town Hall to give our Notice.

What do we know? We’ve never been married before!!

I mentioned our wedding date to one of my best mate she starting asking me all these questions that I do not know the answer to! Where are we holding the reception? How many people are going to the wedding? How much are we spending? Where am I getting a wedding dress?

Aaaaaaaargh!!

So after an emergency meeting with the girls and here’s the list of things we need to do:

Rings
Reception
Wedding Dress
Hair
Make-up
Wedding invites
Wedding favours
Cake
Transport

So… I guess prioritising the honeymoon was the wrong move!

Thanks to the girls rallying, I’ve now have a wedding dress with shoes to come. I have an appointment with Konditor and Cook about the wedding cake. We found a venue for the reception around the corner from our house and will be speaking with the manager next week. Wedding invites have been designed and will be sent out soon. Jules is trying to contact a photographer.

We might not have the most perfect wedding in the world… but we’re getting there!

Wish us luck!!
