Ninky Nonk and Pinky Ponk

I finally bought tickets for Nora and I to go to In the Night Garden Live at the O2!!

Lizzie is going with Ivy today and Lizzie is so excited about it. They are going to go to the Ninky Nonk show.

I wanted to get the Ninky Nonk but thinking about Nora’s lunch, nap time and tea, I decided on the Pinky Ponk.

Anyway… this was almost the conversation Lizzie, Tom and I had yesterday in the middle of the office… Ninky Nonk v Pinky Ponk… and other staff members were looking at us like we’re crazy!

Well… they’ll get it one day… when they are parents themselves :)

Night Garden Mania

We were supposed to go to the Common on Saturday with Lina and Baby Maya, and Lizzie and Baby Ivy. But the heavens decided to open and we cancelled that at the very last minute. I was literally just putting my shoes on when it started raining.

With all of us dressed and no where to go, we then decided to go out anyway… there’s grocery shopping need to be done and why not go to Wandsworth as there is a shopping mall there that we could just stroll around for a bit.

As we were strolling around the mall… we strolled in a toy shop. It is going to be Nora’s birthday soon, so we thought why not get her something. We haven’t really bought many toys for her… since she is in nursery most of her time and they have loads of toys there for her to play with.

I can’t remember what we were looking at when Nora suddenly went mental! Clapping her hands, pointing, clapping her hands… and we looked down and there was Makka Pakka and Igglepiggle soft toys right in front of her. They are characters from the In the Night Garden which Nora loves.

Since she was so excited, I just had to buy her one of the soft toy. Jules was against Makka Pakka as he thinks Makka Pakka is just too weird… so Igglepiggle it is.

And after months of not getting attached to any toys, she slept with Igglepiggle that night, and when she woke up, I found her standing up in her bed… one hand on the rail… and the other holding on to Igglepiggle. Last night… she fell asleep hugging Igglepiggle.

So I will get tickets to In the Night Garden Live… for her birthday.

Time

In three weeks time, Nora will be one!!

Time does go so quickly… and hopefully in September, I will have an extra day to spend with her each week for the next six months.

Stand By

Nora was in the back garden when I went to pick her up… and everyone was so excited to tell me that Nora stood up all on her own! She actually pulled herself up without holding on to anything!

I’m so proud of her… but I’m yet to witness this amazing feat.

Nora showed off her new skill to Jules… but when I walked in the room all she wanted to do was crawl as fast as she could to me and give me big cuddles. So I guess I shouldn’t complain. She’ll show me when she’s ready.

Mr. Bump and the ‘hello Nora’ cup

I have also got a couple of Nora’s cute tricks to share.

When I bath Nora, we use a blue cup to pour water on her to rinse away shampoo. Nora likes to put her bath toys in the cup and then submerge the cup so the litle plastic animals pop out of the cup. Just th other day we started a new cup game. If I empty the cup, cover my mouth with it and say ‘hello Nora’, Nora gives me a puzzled look. If I then put the cup up to her mouth in the same way she (almost) repeats ‘hello Nora’ back to me. Awww bless.

Just last night Nora was sat on my belly when I was wearing my Mr Bump t-shirt. Nora kept pointing at the mr man and each time I would say BUMP. After about 10 times, nora started saying BUMP (ish) herself.

She is so clever and beautiful that everyone keeps telling me she takes after her Mamma. Of course I had nothing to do with it all. This fat ugly stupid bloke just managed to get the pretty and clever lady to marry him. :P

No Bigger Than Your Hand

I really should have wrote about it last week or so… because that was when it started to happen… but I was dying most of the time… but I’m OK now.

Nora’s been watching In the Night Garden for a while now. I think she really likes Iggle Piggle (if that’s how you spell his name)… who sails in his little boat at the start of the programme.

Yes, it always starts with a baby or toddler in bed with his palm open wide and finger going round and round the palm… with the narrator saying ‘Round and round, a little boat, no bigger than your hand… out in the ocean… far away from land’

A couple of weeks ago, Nora started doing the gesture… so now… whenever I start saying ’round and round, a little boat…’ she’ll put her palm out and with her other hand, her index finger will point to her palm and it goes round and round.

She’s just too cute!

Push the Button

Both Jules and I are suffering from food poisoning. This is the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had! I did go to the GP yesterday… but it wasn’t that bad and I thought it will pass in a couple of hours, as it usually does, so I just talked about my eczema and to find out what was wrong with Nora… which turned out to be inflamed tonsils.

Oh… don’t worry about Nora. Although she’s on antibiotics and was throwing up for two days, Godzilla would have been proud of her!

She is fearless!!

She will be a climber!!

So the past two days, as I couldn’t really move, Nora was at her element!

Yesterday, she was just doing her usual stuff of trying to eat the Argos catalogue, clearing the lowest shelf of the bookshelf of all books and eating any dust she could find. Poor girl… I was really suffering that I couldn’t even change her nappy because every time I move, I will have to run to the loo.

Anyway… Jules is suffering today and I’m on the mend… not much but at least I didn’t have to run to the loo every five minutes.

So, today, most of the time I was lying on the sofa watching Nora… and today, she decided to be a bit more adventurous. she now climbs onto the bean bag in front of the other bookshelf and has figured out how to switch the PS3 on and off… and also eject the disc. Which is quite annoying when I have a DVD in there that I was watching.

She’s also climbed higher to clear off the PS3 shelf of all the games. The best thing was, before she did it, she looked at me with a very cheeky smile… and then she’d pull one game box off… then looked at me again… and pulled another box off.

Part of me thought it was funny… but part of me thought that I’m not well and I don’t think I could run fast enough if she slipped… so after she cleared half the shelf, I put her in her jail (cot). Which of course she didn’t like… but it gave me a peace of mind for 15 minutes.

Once I’m better… I will have to figure out how to make some area Nora proof.

First Bloody Accident

Obviously, being a curious baby, Nora has had bumps and bruises and falling backwards hitting her head accidents… but there’s never been blood.

Yesterday, when I went to pick her up, she had a bit of dry blood under her nose and her lower lip looked a bit swollen. Josephine told me that she had a bit of an accident. According to Nora’s accident report, she was sitting on the little baby sofa at the baby room and fell off flat on her face!

Poor little thing. And I know how active Nora is… Nora loves to jump around, so they need to be very careful when the put her on the baby sofa next time… or else!

First Balloon

On Sunday, Nora pulled her Dora the Explorer balloon with her everywhere. Where Nora was, so was Dora.

She kept asking me to pull Dora down so she could play with the balloon… I did it for her a couple of times and she was happy grabbing and pulling Dora.

And then, a proud moment occurred. There I was sitting on the sofa, trying to clear spam off my my inbox, when I noticed Nora slow pulling Dora’s string down so she could grab Dora. I was amazed that she figured it out really quick!

She never ceases to amaze me!
