Little Miss Caring

Nora always seem to know how to look after herself with other toddlers. I try not to intervene unless pushing and shoving is involved; but usually Nora will just push the other toddler and just carry on.

Yesterday, when I picked her up I had a bit of a chat with Kasha who is pregnant with her second child. She mentioned that Nora is very bossy and always try to get her way. She also mentioned that around babies who are smaller than her, Nora is very caring. Nora is gentle with them and always help them put their dummy back in, etc.

But with toddlers… that’s another story! LOL

Nora may frustrate and drive me out of my mind… but I’m always proud of her.

Now, Now, Now… NO

At around 9am, Nora brought my shoe over when I was just sitting on the sofa having a breather. She then pointed to the door so I followed her to the shoe rack and she pointed my other shoe to me.

Then she took her shoes off the rack. I told her to put them back on the rack as we’re not going out yet.

After a lot of to and fro’ing, I put everything in the bag and put her in the pram to go the GP surgery as she has an appointment. Somehow, I couldn’t fit her in properly in the pram straps!!!

??!!!

So after her appointment, I told her that we have to head back home first so I could fix the pram and then we’ll go out. But once she was out of the pram (I didn’t strap her up) she headed towards the stairs. I told her to stop and sit at the bottom of the stair. Surprise, surprise, she did!

Once I fixed her strap through the proper hole in her footmuff, I told her to get back in the pram and she said ‘No’ and started to climb the stairs. I picked her up and head towards the pram and she kept saying ‘no, no, no!!’

Well… I’m not going to take her out in the cold if she doesn’t want to. I didn’t particularly wanted to go out anyway. It was freezing and maybe a trip to the park might not be a good idea anyway.

Mandatory Ride

Every time we go to the big Sainsbury, Nora will have a ride with Iggle Piggle in his boat. It gives her so much joy that I don’t mind spending 50p every time.

Bulls

I was born in the month of the bull and Nora was born in the year of the bull. Yes, we are both stubborn and hold our ground as long as we can.

But Nora has to know that although she is my BFF, I am her mom and it is up to me to discipline her.

Today I bought a bunch of snacks for her from Sainsburys as they were having an offer on baby stuff. The minute she saw the bag at the bottom of the stairs, she started investigating. I put all the snacks back in the shopping bag and she started crying, probably thinking that I won’t let her have any.

I told her firmly that I will give her a little box of raisins when we get upstairs but she has to take her shoes and jacket off first. We did all those through her sobbing. But she knows that she would get something so she was fine.

While she was eating her raisins, I prepared her bath.

Instead of heading towards the bath, she wanted to go to the kitchen to get some more snack. This is when I firmly told her ‘No Nora. Sini (come here)’

She screamed, cried, stamp her feet.

But I repeated the same line over and over again.

She did come to me in the end but the stamping continued all through taking her clothes off, in the bath tub and coming out of the bath tub.

Both of us not giving in but both of us knew that I have the upper hand, therefore she wouldn’t even look at me.

She was crying and screaming and throwing her body as I picked her out of the bathtub. I held her close and recited a verse about five times and she stopped throwing her body, and hugged me and just cried.

Jules came home then and took over to dress her.

She’s in bed now… which was another struggle…

Yes, she’s testing me to see what she can get away with and it is up to me to set the rules. So, both of us will dig our heels and see who crumble first.

Blessed

Nora is very naughty… but I wouldn’t have her any other way. She’s not naughty in a bad way; she’s naughty in a determined way so I have to constantly say ‘no’ to her.

Hence… ‘No’ is her favourite word of the moment.

Anyway, that’s not what I wanted to write about.

It’s been on the news that a three year old girl caught the flu on Christmas Eve and died on Boxing Day… about the same time as Nora did. The news of the death is sad… so, we are very grateful that Nora is OK.

Both Ears

Yup… now both her ears are infected and she’s on antibiotics again… and she has another doctor’s appointment next week.

And yes… she had the flu.

Poor little mite.

Little Miss Fidget

Nora did not want to sleep on her own last night. Nora wanted to sleep with Mama. Nora wanted to play and tug Mama’s hair in her sleep as this calms her down. Nora wanted to move all around the bed to find the most comfortable position even if it mean lying horizontally on Mama’s tummy.

Hence I only had less than three hours sleep last night.

I got so frustrated with her fidgeting, I actually got angry with her and told her firmly to sleep! To which she started sobbing… which made me think ‘oh dear… now she thinks I hate her’

She stopped fidgeting around 4:30am and my alarm went off at 5:30am.

Left her to sleep on the bed and went to the kitchen to do some chores before getting ready to work.

Around 6:20am, whilst sitting down sipping my coffee and watching BBC Breakfast, I heart the pitter patter of tiny feet.

Little Nora was looking for her Mama and she gave me the biggest good morning hug!

She doesn’t think that I hate her after all :)

Food Frenzy

I think bubba is happy to be eating again! So happy that when she was having breakfast, she did not waste any porridge! Usually when she feed herself, not all end up in her mouth… but today, it was all gone!

Almost the same for lunch… but she decided that she just want croutons in her soup and not pasta… so she spit the pasta out but choose her food carefully.

When the sun, at last, came out, we went grocery shopping and I bought her a new set of cutlery. After a ‘quick’ stop at the library, I prepared, mash potatoes, boiled carrots and peas and fish fingers for tea.

She was testing her cutlery rather than eating her tea! She kept stabbing the fish fingers with her knife.

Glad all the food had stayed down… so far.

No Food

Nora was crying around 1am last night/this morning. I tend to ignore her for a bit because sometimes, she does settle down and goes back to sleep.

After giving her a few minutes, I went to her room to calm her down and was greeted by my little baby covered with sick! I switched on the lights and there was sick everywhere!!

The poor thing!

After cleaning her up as much as I can and redressed her… took her to bed with me so she could keep me awake while she sleeps. Every time she coughs, she’d be sick.

This morning, I gave her porridge for breakfast… and later a bottle of milk. We went to the front room and she sat at her table and I went out of the room for a moment… when I came back, there were sick all over her drawing :(

Jules took her to the doctor and she’s not to eat anything for a day.

Nora loves her food.

Advanced

Had a little chat with Kasha today. She told me that a couple of babies moved to Busy Bee and everybody thought Nora was moving over too and was surprised that she won’t be moving until end of February.

Kasha said that Nora is very advanced and is ready to move but they don’t do it until the baby reach 18 months, so, she has to stay at Tiggers.

I just hope that Nora hasn’t peaked to early…
