We went to Nate’s second birthday party today… and we had so much fun! Nora and Nate played well together… not exactly a surprise really as they do spend three days a week playing together at Nursery. But it was still nice seeing them laugh and play :)

She Was Two

Dear Nora,

Please forgive mama as I forgot to mark your second birthday in accordance to the Muslim calendar on 12 Ramadan 1432. Mama will make yummy cupcakes and biscuits for you to share with your Nursery friends for next Thursday. Mama will try harder next year to mark the occasion.

Nathaniel There

We were walking home from Nursery when we got to the end of the road and Nora pointed to the left and said ‘Nathaniel there’.

Yes, Nathaniel and his mom turn left and we turn right to head home.

And I told Nora that we will head there too on Monday when we go to Nathaniel’s second birthday party… and Nora then started to sing ‘Happy Birthday Nora’

Not yet Nora… take your time… don’t grow up too quickly.

Say Cheese

I was chatting to Nathaniel’s mom yesterday about his birthday party this coming Monday! But we were interrupted as Little Miss Bossy wasn’t happy with the fact that Nate had a biscuit she didn’t! We said our goodbyes and I stopped at the shops to get Nora some biscuits.

How they have grown!

Nora will be two next Friday!!

I got a tad bit excited and stopped at Sainsburys today and bought stuff for next Thursday. I’ll be baking her some cupcakes and biscuits to take to Nursery so she could celebrate it with her Nursery friends.

We’re not organizing a party this year for her… We just don’t have the space… and I don’t want her friends to feel that they need to give her presents… as we don’t have space for stuff in the house either! Anyway, Nora has so many toys that she really doesn’t need anymore!

But of course, I’ve bought her a present ages ago! Just need to build it now ;)

Chocolate Drops, Please

Usually I would tell her off for asking for it early in the morning. Today I welcomed it as it means she is getting better!

She’s had temperature for a few days and haven’t been eating well for the last two days. She didn’t even want any snacks, chocolate or dried apricot! Usually she’s the one who opens her cupboard door and points to the food that she wants… so, yes, I was worried.

When she said ‘Chocolate drops, please’ this morning, I told her to get a little bowl and I gave her a handful… her hand size rather than mine, of course!

Finding my place.

I am increasingly aware of the new pecking order in our house. I fitted the new seat to the toilet today. It has 3 workable positions. Shut, sitting and baby sitting. Standing up does not work. When tried it snaps shut without warning.

Chopping Away

Today as I was preparing her lunch, I gave her a small pot, a ladle, a knife (blunt one of course) and a chopping board. She concentrated hard on chopping the green beans I passed to her… soon, she’ll be preparing lunch for me! ;)
