Gina Ford or Not?

Jules colleague suggested that we should read up the book from Gina Ford. He told Jules that by following what’s written in the book, there was not sleepless night as his baby slept all through the night.

Now, Gina Ford is also known as the Nazi nanny amongst mothers. Everything seems to be very regimented. I know during my pregnancy I joked about setting a strict regime for Nora and get her to do the dishes as soon as she can suck her little fingers!

Now that she’s here… I don’t seem to have the heart to be strict to her especially when she’s so good every time we go out. She just sits in her little car seat in the buggy and not make a sound for hours… and sleep through her feeding time.

So, when we do get home hours later and she plays her game of how loud can she be… I let her ask for milk on demand. Although she does wake me up in the middle of the night, she is good at letting me rest for 3-4 hours.

Basically, I don’t really have anything to complain about… and for now I think it will be Gina Ford not. I’ll read it for the fun of it as we have the book and maybe practice it in the future as I do believe a child do need a bit of discipline and regime but not too much so she can grow to be her own little person.

  1. Hiya, you know my thoughts on this woman ;-) . Nora sounds really happy & contented, so I think just follow her lead. She’s still tooooo tiny to be stuck in any rigid routine! Give her a couple more months ;-p Another book that many of my friends (and I) preferred is ‘Secrets of the Baby Whisperer’ by Tracy Hogg (who’s no longer with us) – much more practical and uses more of the common sense approach. Hope you’re all keeping well.
