And I’m tired out.

I’ve been on my feet from the moment I opened my eyes today. Nora requested a ghost cake to bring to pre-school and that’s what I made for her.

I also made her some gingerdead men.

And to finish off… some party bags for her pre-school friends to take home.

I think we did all right for her third birthday. Her big present are the hamster cage and Coco and Blanco… her hamsters. But the cage didn’t arrive complete… and her hamsters escaped… We managed to find Coco but Blanco is still MIA. Still… we didn’t do too badly for her third birthday.

So on the last day of Ramadan, I’ve been busy in the kitchen. I had some Malay Eid songs playing in the background courtesy of youtube and I shed some tears. No matter how I try to recreate… it will never be the same as home… And even if I was home, it wouldn’t be the same either… how I miss my late grandparents. They made everything so special on Eid.

But I Nora need to know that it is a special day after a month of fasting. I am glad that towards the end of Ramadan, she did get the fact that I’m fasting, therefore I can’t eat or drink with her during dinner time. And now that one of her chores is to set the dinner table, she only set a place for Jules and her as she knows… “Mama puasa”.

So yesterday, as I said, Nora and I got busy in the kitchen.

Selamat Hari Raya to fellow Malaysians and maaf zahir batin; and Happy Eid Mubarak to fellow Muslims.

In accordance to the Islamic calendar,today, three years ago Nora was born. I am ever so grateful to be a mother to a very independent, resilient child. Syukur alhamdullillah.

Tonight marks the start of Ramadan. It saddens me that I won’t be able to participate on the first day of Ramadan; one of the five pillars of Islam. I am again unwell and on medication.

While I recover, Dr Nora is looking after me and she takes her responsibility very seriously indeed

Nora will be three in less than a couple of months time. It’s time for me to start preparing for her party. Again, I’m going to bring cake and goodies to nursery as that where all her friends are.

I asked her the other day what cake she wants and she said ‘ghost’. I asked her is she sure she doesn’t want a pirate birthday or hello kitty birthday or any other themed. She’s adamant that she wants a ghost party.

So, I’ve been researching ghost cakes and looking for spooky party favours.

Early Mother’s Day Presents by yati

This Sunday is Mothering Sunday in the UK.

On Wednesday, when I went to pick Nora up from Nursery, Nora handed me the Mother’s Day card she made

It has a tea bag attached in the card so I could sit back and relax and have a nice cup of tea on the day.

Sweet idea but that’s not going to happen. Too many chores to do around the house.

Today, when I got home with Nora after her play date with Nathaniel, there was a box of tulips waiting for me

Jules told me they should have delivered it on Sunday itself. But hey… who cares. Although I’ve been here for almost 20 years, I still think Mother’s Day is in May.
