Nora had her painting session in the garden this morning. It is such a lovely day

As she is getting bigger and runs around in the garden more, I must really get the garden in shape!

Anyway… it all ended up in a mess. Her jumper is ruined, her hands were covered in paint… but it seemed less a mess in the garden rather than if it had been in the house

The weather was wonderful yesterday! So we spent the afternoon out in the garden and Heidi and her daddy, Uncle Gavin, came and joined us.

Nora and I made this bird feederWell… I made it when she was napping and she brought it down stairs and fill it up with bird food. Jules than hung it up on his shed as neither Nora or I could reach the nail hook.Jules made holes in Nora’s old wellies and we planted some flower plants in them.

I repotted the tomatoes from the egg shells into Nora’s juice boxes and hopefully some chives will grow in the Green Giant tin. We also sprinkled some lavender seeds into a fruit juice pack box and they are all in the cold frame… as it is still March so a cold snap might still happen… and I really do not want them dying because of the cold like what happened to my courgettes when I didn’t protect them and the frost returned! Nora and Heidi than watered my plants… so they are now well drowned!

I remember last year when I tried to do gardening with Nora and most of the time it ended up with me getting frustrated. This year it’s been really nice

We went to B&Q over the weekend and I couldn’t help but get this for Nora.

The strawberry plant is now sitting on the dining table in the kitchen so when the berries ripens, Nora could just pick them off… plus, I really don’t want the birds or squirrels or insects eat the berries as I do not have any nettings to protect it.

Next year maybe a different matter.

According to vegetable book that I have, the leaves could be ravaged by white butterfly caterpillars or pigeons. I haven’t seen many butterflies in the garden but we do have lots of wood pigeon… could it be the big fat pigeons.

Oh well… at least I could now see the cauliflower coming out… so hopefully the bulbs will come out OK and we will figure out what to do about the leaves for the next crop.

It was a bank holiday and traditionally in the UK, bank holidays are spent doing DIY or the garden. And this year, after years of neglect, our garden is slowly taking shape.

Jules built brilliant decking for us to relax on and have a BBQ. He also made beddings for Nora and me to fill with vegetables and flowers!

To help the bees… we’ve planted some lavender, cosmos and some red daisy like plant that Nora chose. They all had a bee sticker on them. Around them we planted thyme, oregano and garlic.

The cauliflowers are growing well… so are the carrots and potatoes!

I think… I might pull a carrot out soon… once I’ve used up the carrots I bought from the supermarket.
